My Playful
Puppy
By Tim
It was late Christmas
Eve and I slowly climbed into bed after a long day of playing games.
I remember it like it was just yesterday. I knew I wasn't going
to be able to go to sleep that night. In two seconds I was asleep.
I felt like I had just closed my eyes when my annoying alarm clock
went off. It was five in the morning. I flew off my bed and down
stairs like a rocket. I stated ripping the paper off all the presents.
I opened the presents that weren't even mine. My parents just got
down the stairs with sleep still in their eyes. As soon as they
saw me their eyes snapped open. My dad was furious. His face was
redder than a tomato. It looked like smoke was going to come from
his ears. He looked like he was about to pop. And then to my surprise
he sat down and started to laugh. He laughed until huge tears rolled
down his cheeks.
When my brother
got upstairs from his room and saw me he was enraged. But unlike
my dad he didn't start to laugh hysterically he came after me like
a charging bull. He chased me around the living room till my dad
grabbed me and my mom grabbed my brother. After my brother had a
good beating with me laughing the whole time my mom finally said,
"Well Tim since you opened all the other presents you probably
don't want this one."
"Give it
to me right now!" I bellowed. She opened the closet and took
out a gigantic box with holes in it. As soon as I saw the box I
jumped up and pulled the box out of her hands. In less than three
seconds I had a puppy with enormous blue eyes and a tail you couldn't
stop from waggling if you wanted to in my lap. He was a golden retriever
with lots more hair than he needed. I told my parents that the dog's
name was going to be Charlie.
Charlie had centimeter
long needle sharp teeth that would sink into your hand every 10
seconds. All he ever wanted to do was play with someone in the grass.
If I would stay up all night long he would always want to play.
Every night when it was time for me to go to bed he would lay down
next to my bed, and every morning he would jump up on my bed and
lick my face to wake me up
After that day
Charlie and I were best friends. On my first day of school I said
bye to Charlie and got on the school bus. Charlie thought that I
was leaving him so he ran after the bus all the way to the end of
the street. When I got off the school bus in the afternoon my dog
was laying on the porch not moving. When I called his name he looked
up and when he saw me flew over and from ten feet away jumped and
knocked me over. For the rest of that day we played in the grass.
Nine years later
and full of good memories my playful puppy laid down. I called Charlie
and told him I was going to go to the stream about a mile away from
my house. That was one of his favorite places to go to. When he
didn't get up I asked my mom what was wrong with him. She said that
he had a tumor on his liver. He looked up at me with the eyes that
were deeper than the deepest ocean. He licked my hand and wagged
his tail for the last time. Then he closed his eyes never to open
then again.
