The Rope
Swing
By Shane
"My turn!"
I yelled, I was so excited, I scrambled quickly up to the top of
a smooth red wall. As I slowly stood up I could hear my pants rip
at the knees. "No moms going to kill me," I muttered to
myself. I tugged gently rope as it was swung to my by one of my
friends. I was about to tug on it again when I heard everyone scream
loudly all at once "Just swing!"
At this I gripped
the rope tightly and began to run the short distance of the wall,
my feet slapping loudly on it as I did. As I neared the edge of
the wall I leapt off. I began to spin in rapid circles, I could
hear the wing whistling past my ear, as I span around my friends
they passed by in blurs. Every time I began to slow down I would
use my feet to propel myself forward by slamming them in to the
side of the wall I would speed up a bit.
When I let go
of the rope I began to fly in the opposite direction of the wall,
I heard people gasping as I did. I shook myself, making sure that
nothing was broken. When I tried to stand up I would stumble forward
and fall onto my face. I heard people laugh at me every time that
happened. When I finally was able to stand I told them to carry
on and I was going home. I walked slowly across the field, muttering
to myself as I went "geese that hurt, I'm not doing that again,
I feel like I might pass out."
