The
Journey

" All right
out of the car!" yelled my Dad. I got out of the car with my brother
and started unloading all the bikes. I took my bike off the rack
and started riding around the car.
"Hurry up dad,"
I yelled, "we haven't got all day!"
He got on his
bike and yelled, " Lets go!"
So I followed
him down to the "Ocean Side Bike Trail."
"Woooooohooooooo!"
I screamed as the wind was whipping in my face, I was riding down
a really steep hill that led to the beach.
When we got
down to the bottom of the hill we started heading for the trail,
or at least we thought we were. "Dad, are you sure that the trail
is this way?" I exclaimed.
"Of course I
know it's this way." my Dad said confidently. (A little too confidently.)
I heard waves
crashing on the beach, and looked for a trail but I didn't see any
trail.
"Dad there's
no trail here!" I yelled.
"There's
got to be a trail somewhere around here!" my Dad said. So we started
pushing our bikes through the sand.
"No trail
this way!" my Dad said in a panicky voice. So we turned around and
started pushing our bikes a mile the other way. I was sweating and
hot. I wanted water but we didn't pack any. The sun was starting
to go down and we were thinking that we were going to have to spend
the night on the beach without any food or water. We might have
to go back up the way we came, but we couldn't go back up the way
we came because it was too muddy to walk or bike up. Then suddenly
I heard a rumbling, it sounded like a really deep hum, I turned
around, and it was a truck!
"Dad, there's
a truck coming our way!" I yelled. The truck pulled up next to us
and the guy in it asked if we needed a ride. We hopped in the bed
of the truck and then got dropped off at the trail. As we were riding
on the trail we saw a lot of Elk. One was standing right in the
middle of the trail. We had to yell at it to make it move off of
the trail.
When we
finally got back to the car my mom said, "Oh my gosh are you guys
okay!"
"Yes Mom
we're fine." Then I hopped in the back of the car and fell asleep.
When I woke up we had just pulled into the hotel that we were staying
at in Crescent City, California and the next day we would go tide
pooling. (But that's another story!)
