The Screeching
Stop
By Holly
"Please
stop, please stop, we're lost," Taylor and I heard as we drove
down the dark beach in the army green Jeep Wrangler.
As the Camouflage
Jeep strolled down the warm, white, sandy, beach we heard shrill
screams get louder and louder. The screams became so loud that they
were almost deafening, "Please stop, please stop, we're lost!"
"I wonder
if we should pick up those people," Taylor's uncle Chuck asked
with a shake in his voice.
"I am not
sure," Taylor exclaimed, "what if they have guns or are
mass murders or something, maybe they're even con artists!"
At that moment
the thoughts were pounding through my head and my heart was almost
in my throat, I was so scared!
As the slightly
rusted jeep moved to where we could see the frightening people we
noticed they were just two teenagers. One wearing a T-shirt ripped
at the sleeves with tattoos covering his arms to the point where
no skin was showing. His jeans were ripped at the bottom. He had
on untied, old ratty sneakers, that made a flip-flop sound as his
heels came in and out of the shoes as he walked down the white sandy
beach. The young teenage girl was wearing a short blue shirt with
pink and orange flowers lined up across the front that showed her
swimsuit ties tied tightly around her neck. Her hair had been thrown
everywhere looking like she had just gone swimming. Her nose was
lined up and down with small diamond stud earrings. As she walked
next to the other teenager her short blue shorts and flip-flop sandals
made shh flip flop shh flip flop sound.
When we were
starting to speed up just after we passed the two teenagers one
yelled "Hey man pick us up, we're lost!"
All of the sudden
the army green Jeep Wrangler went to a screeching stop, sand flew
up from the back tires and front of the jeep just barely touched
the white sandy beach. Everything got quiet for a couple of seconds
while the shock eased its way out of each of us.
"I could
have sworn we were going to tip over," I said shakily.
After this shock
the two teenagers just started walking over to the army green Wrangler
Jeep and climbing in.
Chuck quickly
said "What are you two doing out here this late at night?"
The two teenagers
not listening to Taylor's uncle climbed into the jeep and sat down.
Then they started saying, "Thanks man we needed this ride we've
been waiting here for about like five hours. We thought we would
have to stay here all night long and maybe even forever, you know
we where just walking along then all of the sudden we were lost
and we didn't know which way to walk so we just sat down and waited,
and waited."
"No problem,
now where are you guys staying," Chuck asked.
"Um where
is that place again," the girl said.
"Um I think
its called Cape San Blas Campground," the other said.
After driving
around Cape San Blas for about 15 minutes we finally found the campground.
We got the teenagers to their campground, dropped them off and went
to our house feeling heroic. After this experience I learned that
you should not judge people by their looks, just judge them by their
personality and how they act.
