The Trip
of My Life!
By Doug
"Doug
wake up," my mom said as she tickled me. I sat up and looked
at the clock it was 5:30 A.M. I got out of bed, got dressed, ate
some breakfast, grabbed my bags, went outside, and got in the car.
About 5 minutes
later my mom and Bill, my almost step dad. (He is engaged with my
mom) came out. They got into the car and we left.
I was in the
back seat so I lay down and fell asleep.
About 1 or
2 hours later I woke up and we were just outside of Winnamuca. My
mom said, "Hi Doug, sleep well?"
"Yes,"
I said as I yawned. "How long have we been driving?" I
asked again. "About 2 hours" Bill replied. So, I went
back to sleep again.
I woke up again
like 4 hours later. I looked out the window we were in Wendover,
Nevada, getting ready to cross the Nevada-Utah border. My mom looked
back and said, "Look Dougie we are getting ready to cross the
Nevada-Utah border."
I said, "COOL!"
We drove through this desert like area in northern Utah. We saw
that one salt company's factories, (which is the one where their
label shows a girl with an umbrella.) Then we got to Salt Lake City.
We were trying to get to Wyoming but we ended up driving north and
we ended up in Ogden. We finally found our way out of Utah.
We got
two Illinois about two days later and went to the hospital where
my Grandpa was. He was there because he had a heart bypass surgery.
When we got to the hospital he face brightened up. We got some pictures
together, we ate lunch together, and we got him a get well present.
On the Sunday after we got there he got out of the hospital. My
grandma, my mom, Bill, and me all think that he recovered so quickly
because my mom and me were there.
