The Accident
By Christina
It was a hot
sunny day in Reno, Nevada and it was time to go have some fun. Garry,
who is about 6'1 and has brown hair and brown eyes decided that
we were going to go 4 wheeling on a quad. We were having fun out
in the desert until he let me drive. Up ahead there was a narrow
pathway and below that was a creek 4 inches deep. If we were to
fall off we would fall 6ft down into the creek. I was a little nervous
about driving because I had never done it before. We started going
to the right and Garry was yelling,
"Turn, Turn."
"I can't."
"Then push on
the break."
That was the
problem. I thought I squeezed the break but it was the clutch instead.
I didn't think or see anything when we were falling it was just
blank.
I woke up gasping
for air; I was under water with the quad on top of me. I started
screaming when I reached air. I felt so much pain it was unbearable.
The pipes on the quad burnt my whole leg. I slid from under the
quad with rocks scraping my legs. I looked for Garry and he was
lying in the water. He got up moaning. We walked up the hill and
he looked at my leg and blood was running down it.
"I can't walk."
I said.
"Is it broken?"
"I don't think
so," I said, " It just hurts really badly."
We went down
and pushed the quad out of the water and started home. Garry had
no injuries, but his shoulder did hurt for 3 weeks. But, before
I go on another quad I'll learn how to drive first!
