My First
Race
By Bryan
It was a
snowy day and the air was chilling cold when it was my turn to race."On
your mark, get set, go" said the announcer. I was off leading
the pack of six feet kids on boards to the first jump. Then out
of the fog there was the five-foot grueling jump. I went off of
it in to the chilling air looking desperately looking for a landing.
I landed
with no sweat, with four huge kids starving for first place behind
me. The second jump was very icy wicked mess of a jump that could
have been from Alaska .I almost nailed it but I slide off the side
of it. I thought I was going to lose when I got in to second place.
With a sharp icy carve, I was head to head with the ugly kid in
first place. Suddenly we went in to a 70-degree angle of ice and
slush. The man in front of me biffed hard at the one of his carves
and I suddenly got in to first place. As, I
got to the second to last and made it look easy to land but it was
like jumping the Grand Canyon trying to land it. But the crowd loved
it and so did the judges. Here was it the moment of truth the last
jump. When I was approaching it my left binding came lose and I
was thinking about stopping but I was so close. I went on and hit
the jump. I was in the air and my binding came off. The landing
was there and so was the finish line. I came down hard and dislocated
three fingers, my shoulder, and my knee. Oh, I almost forgot to
tell you the good part and I know your probably thinking there couldn't
be a good part to this but just listen to me. I WON THE RACE that
is the good part to this story. The worst part was I couldn't snowboard
for a week and had to go to physical therapy for a few days. But
my mom babied in till I got better me, so I was fine.
