Hidden
Talents
By Tina
I always thought
that my one talent was being able to play sports! As time went on
I realized that music would also have a special talent hidden inside
of me. I guess it all started when I signed up for a singing part
in a recital. I was just meaning to do it as a joke. I guess when
I sang the judges heard something inside of me. I was now singing
in a recital! I would be singing in front of a thousand people!
Something that started for fun was now something serious!
"Mom,
I can't do it!" I would say.
"Of
course you can, you've got talent!" she would reply.
I practiced
every night and day. I thought I was horrible, but I kept practicing.
Then the
opening of the recital came. It was my turn to go on stage. I panicked
out there on stage. You can say I froze. Sweat was dripping down
my face, my knees were trembling, and my face was burning hot. The
music started, the dreaded sound rang in my ears, the music started
again and I began to sing. The whole time I was thinking of what
would happen after I was finished, my legs were shaking, I was running
out of breath, my mind was scrambling, what would they think of
me, would they start laughing, but I kept singing.
When the
song was over everyone stood up and cheered. I bowed and ran off
stage. I was so happy that it was over but at the same time I was
happy that I had experienced such a wonderful thing in my life that
I could share with my children some day. It's a feeling that makes
you feel so proud of yourself, a feeling of complete happiness.
I will always
remember the day I put aside the nerves and butterflies and sang
with my Hidden Talents.
