Let's Get
Ready To Rumble
By Stephen
Whack! As
I threw a right hook at Omar Smith. The person I was boxing for
the first time in my life. I had started it off with a hard blow
to his stomach. Then I sat back and waited for him to make his move.
He threw a right hook at me and pushed up my headgear. Ring! The
round came to an end.
"Stephen get
it together don't wait for him, go after him, attack first," exclaimed
my coach.
I asked,
"What should I do I can't land anything?"
"Go straight
for his jaw," my coach responded with triumph.
Ring! As
we began the next round, he came out swinging. He started to slow
down. Then he tried to rest on me and I pushed him. He fell down.
I think the referee said, "No knock down, it was a push." Then he
waved his hands together. I charged after him, I landed another
right hook. He fell straight to the ground this time. The referee
started to count. "One, two, three, four, five, six."
The kid
got back up. The bell rang as he was landing a straight jab to my
nose.
That was the
end of the fight. I went to my corner and my coach took off my headgear
and gloves. I went back to the referee as the announcer came into
the ring. "The winner by rule of split decision out of Reno, Nevada
is Omar Smith," announced the announcer. I was so depressed. I will
remember it for the rest of my life.
