The Day I Made a Fool of Myself
By Sarah
"Sarah!" I heard someone yell. "Do something!"
I was completely frozen in my spot on the stage as I glared
into the enormous audience.
I was ten years old and this was my first dance performance.
We were at Granite Bay High School. When my dance class got on stage
and the music started, I was too scared to move.
Everyone’s eyes were on me. I scanned the hundreds of people
in the audience. All I could hear was the loud music that the rest
of my class was dancing to. I had never been this scared in my life.
I was shaking so much that I thought my body would fall apart. I
wasn’t even able to blink. I just kept my eyes wide open, as I stood
looking into the crowd of people.
Soon, I saw the big, red, velvet curtain starting to close.
I was so embarrassed. My face was as red as an apple. I ran off
the stage as fast as I could, and the rest of my class followed
me.
"Why didn’t you do the dance?" asked Lindsay, one
of the girls in my dance class.
"I’m really sorry. I got so scared that I just froze."
I said, as I was still trembling. "Can we try it again?"
I asked.
"Sure." everyone said.
We started walking back out onto the pitch-black stage. I got
in my position and when the bright, shinning lights came on and
the music started, I did the dance with the rest of my class.
Even though I did the dance perfect the second time, I will
always remember it as the day I made a fool of myself.
