An Amazing
Game
By Brian
"Go
Knights!" the whole seventh grade basketball team screamed
before the last game of the season had started. My name is Brian
and I was the starting point guard for the seventh grade basketball
team for Kingsbury.
"Are you
ready?" asked the referee.
"Yes,"
I replied as I was stretching out my legs.
"Beep!"
the buzzer went off and the game was underway. Tommy, the center,
won the tip and gave the ball to me. This game was against the first
place team from North Tahoe and if we beat them we would be in first
place. The first quarter went by fast and we were ahead 10-7. I
had scored 4 points in that quarter which was very good for me.
The second quarter started with me sitting on the bench. Sean, the
back-up point guard, was going to play the entire second quarter.
The ball was passed to Sean as he took the ball up the court. Sean
was wide open so he went to shoot and right as he shot number 17
on the other team rottenly tackled him into the shiny floor.
"No!"
yelled Mr. Sorenson, the coach, as he ran onto the court. Sean was
hurt and he was hurt bad. "Brian you're in," the coach
told me as he carried Sean off of the court. I played the rest of
the quarter and scored 5 more points. The score was now 18-14 with
us ahead at the half. The 3rd quarter went by with no
points scored by our team. The score was now 18-18. The 4th
quarter started out like a seesaw we were playing equally as well.
With about a minute left I called time out and headed to the bench.
"Okay, here is the plan." our coach started, "
Brian you will run the clock down to about 10 seconds and shoot."
" Sounds
like a plan," I replied with a colorful smile on my face. I
got the ball and got the clock down to 10 seconds. The time was
going down fast, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, I ran to the hoop, 3, 2, I shot
and it missed.
"Foul!"
yelled the referee. I was shooting 2 free throws. My hands were
so sweaty I couldn't even hold the ball. I bounced it twice, looked
up, shot and missed. The crowd was going crazy. I got the ball back
again I bounced it twice, looked up, shot, and it was in, we had
won! The crowd was going wild. We had won first place and it was
all up to me and I did it. I felt joyful while I stood tall when
I won the game for us.
