One of
My Most Exciting Softball Games
By Anna
If I could
remember any two games I had ever played, one of them would be the
one I hit two homeruns in. This game was last May.
The score
was five-one. My team, the "Green Wave," was winning.
I was up to bat at the dusty, white plate. It was so hot that the
pitcher could hardly pitch, and the umpire was sweating.
The pitcher
weakly pitched the first pitch. It was hard to keep from hitting
the pitch. I saw the ball slide way outside and the catcher had
to stretch to catch it.
"Ball!"
enthusiastically yelled the ump, which was getting really stinky
now.
"Good
call," mumbled my coach like a smart aleck, as the pitcher
pitched the second pitch.
Pong! Was
the sound of my aluminum bat when it made contact with the pitch.
You could faintly see the red stitching on the ball as it flew past
the spacey left fielder's head. I ran as fast as I could to third
base. The outfielder casually threw the ball to second base. The
second baseman missed the ball.
"Run!
Go home!" screamed the third base coach. I got home safely
while the other team was busy yelling at the left fielder. I was
so happy that I had got home. People were clapping and yelling.
The next
inning I was up to bat again. I swung at the first pitch even though
it was high. It went soaring past the right fielder. I was in between
second and third base as the second baseman missed the cut-off.
The ball was slowly rolling to the catcher. I ran so hard to home
and I was miraculously safe! I was so excited!
The final
score was 10-4. The "Green Wave" won. I was so happy not
only that we won, but that I hit two in the park homeruns in one
game with a double and a triple too. I will always remember that
game.
