The Slide
By Max
It
started when we were building our new home in Park City, Utah. I
was about five at the time and I was quite mischievous. Our house
was pretty much done except for a few minor plumbing problems
.our
front hallway was a giant puddle getting bigger by the minute. What
had happened was that a pipe in the ceiling had frozen and burst,
so it was dripping and dripping until somebody finally turned off
the water. My mom called the contractor that was finishing our house
at the time. He came over and started fixing the pipe at once.
Now since
the pipe had burst from freezing other things were cold too. For
instance there were icicles growing in the linen closet. My mom
and I were sawing them down with a hacksaw when we came up with
the same idea at once. I took a big icicle down and ran downstairs
at once. I stopped where the contractor was standing and tried to
slip the icicle down his pants. Somehow he noticed and grabbed the
icicle from me. I started running and screaming, "Agggh".
My sprint ended when I stepped into the puddle. I started sliding
straight towards the sofa. Guess what
I hit it. I stood up
and felt surprisingly good.
I was standing
there feeling fine but when the contractor saw me he gasped and
went and got my mom. She came down the stairs and said, "Whats
wrong?".
The contractor
said, "Well, Max was trying to put an icicle down my pants
so I grabbed it from him and he ran away; you can probably guess
the rest".
Right then my
mom rushed me into the bathroom, and then I saw what happened in
the mirror. I had a big bleeding gash on my forehead. Right then
it started to hurt. So we drove down to the local clinic and
the doctors saw me immediately. They took me into a room and started
at once. The nurse gave me a shot with some anesthetic and started
sewing it up at once. The doctor took a needle and stuck it into
my forehead. It hurt a lot. After he was done I had a pink line
with 15 little black stitches in it.
Now to this
day I have a little scar mixed in with my eyebrow and I learned
to never run in a big puddle of water.
