The Day
I Became Cinderella
By Amy
Today was the
day, not any regular kind of day, a very special day. Today was
the Cinderella Pageant, a day of big fancy puffy dresses, shiny
sparkling shoes, loads of makeup, and your best smiles. Today was
day of the best of the best pageant girls. . I was one of them.
All the girls were getting ready. It was almost time. It was almost
as if I was a future fortuneteller. I could tell it was going to
be a hard competition, the hardest yet. All of the contestants had
to write a speech about themselves and wear big gown like dresses
to present them in. I could tell by looking at the other girls that
winning this competition wasn't going to be easy. For example take
this girl named Gloria. She was perfect in every way, hair, makeup,
shoes, dress, smile, everything. You name it she was perfect in
it. It made me feel like a little old withered mouse, which should
run back into it's peephole and never should have come out. I knew
that in the end it would be me against her, if I make it to the
end. Oh my gosh!! Aaaah! This is all so exciting, but I'm so nervous.
What if I mess up? What if I trip, fall, and my dress tears? What
if I loose my speech or forget what to say? What if my lipstick
smears? These were all questions I was asking myself as I finished
getting ready.
I had finally
finished getting ready. I was wearing a small red dress, with white
lace frills, and white sequins. My hair was in curls hanging down
at the side of my face. My face was lightly covered in make-up,
red blush on my cheeks, red lipstick on my lips, and sparkle white
eye shadow on my eyes. On my feet I wore white dress shoes with
little ribbon bows and a gold buckle.
The time
had come, I walked to my spot in line and patiently began waiting.
Soon it would be my turn to be on stage, my proud moment, I could
hardly wait. It was so hard to stand there patiently. Butterflies
were rocketing off every side of my stomach. Look at all those people,
I told my self nervously. I mean come on how would you feel with
your parents and a whole bunch of other people you don't know just
staring at you?
The microphone
was handed to me. It was time my turn. My heart was pounding as
hard as it possibly could.
I walked
on stage, I was so scared I could have run of that humongous, big,
black, sparkling stage, but the truth is I didn't. Seeing my mom
smiling at me I changed my mind. Gathering up my courage I began
my speech, "Hello! My name is Amarissa, I am 6 years old. My favorite
color is purple. When I grow up I want to be a teacher. I don't
have a favorite animal, but I have 2 dogs. I also have one sister
named Megan."
Yeah! I
finished and I didn't even mess up once I thought. Bull's eye that
will show Gloria. I am just as good as she is. Quietly standing
off to the side I stood waiting for the last girl to finish her
speech.
The last
round of applause had finished and the judges gave the lady in the
blue dress a white envelope with a gold sticker on it. She paused,
opened the letter and announced, " For first place the winner of
this years Cinderella Pageant is, Miss Amarissa!"
She handed me
a tall silver trophy with a silver crown on top and a big burgundy
ribbon.
I had won,
I had actually won! Can you believe it, and I thought that Gloria
was going to win. Boy was I ever wrong. I just wanted to leap up
and down, run around in circles, scream, cheer, and dance all at
the same time. I, Amarissa had actually won the Cinderella Pageant.
The pageant
was over, I ran off stage to my mother. " Look at what I won mom!"
I announced joyfully as I showed her the tall silver shining trophy.
"I am so
proud of you!" My mom told me. She gave me a big bear hug. That
was the day I became Cinderella. Oh, and one last thing before I
end this story. There is a lesson to be learned. You can do anything
you want to do all you have to do is put your mind to it.
